Type 21b A framed circle, 25 mm in diameter, with 'BRISBANE' around the top, 'QUEENSLAND' around the foot and a thicker dot either side; in the centre, in three lines, are the time, month and day, and year in two figures. It was in use between 1903 and 1911
- Type 21b (6 October 1903 - 31 October 1911) rated Common - $10 on stamp and $20 on cover
Campbell's date stamp types 21 and 22 are so similar - as well as appearing to have been used interchangeably - that for the purposes of this blog I have split them up into 3 distinct types:
21a has a small dot either side, 21b has a larger dot either side, 22 has a square with 4 small dots, either side. This later became very worn, although it is possible that there was more than one type 22.
Examples with POB in the top line are date stamp type 23. There is also a duplex type 9a and a duplex type 10 which are very similar to date stamp type 21a - only assume it is a duplex if the duplex portion can be seen
Top line. L-R; Brisbane date stamp type 21a, type 21b, type 22, type 22 worn. Bottom line, L-R: type 23 (POB), duplex type 9a and duplex type 10. There is usually, but not always, an 'A' or 'P' at the end of the time
