The type 9 date stamp comprises 2 distinct Code types assigned as follows:
- 9a - Numeral codes 1, 5, 9 - 15 (1878 - 1883)
- 9b - Letter codes A, A inverted / Sideways, B, C, E, F, H, J and K (1877 - 1883)
Brisbane duplex type 3(a) is so similar that this date stamp is best collected on cover. It is also similar to type 13 which was in use later and in which the letter code and date sit more centrally
