Type 23 A framed circle, 25.5 mm in diameter, with 'BRISBANE' around the top, 'QUEENSLAND' around the foot  with a dot stop at each side; In the centre in the top line is 'POB' and below it the date is in two lines, month before the day and the year in two figures.

It is very similar to Brisbane Type 21 but with 'POB' instead of a time code. It is not known why 'POB' was inserted in some of the type 21 date stamps or what it signified. It is possible that it is similar to the usage found in the type 14 Pillarbox octagonal date stamps, where POB means posted overseas box. However examples have been seen sent within Brisbane, Queensland, interstate and overseas. Known used from 30 June 1906 to 7 November 1908. Often the year is missing

There was also a type 9c POB QL duplex in use during this period. As only a handful of examples are known, unless the QL obliterator portion is present, all 'POB' examples are assumed to be the type 23 date stamp
