Type 3 - A horizontal framed double oval with 'BRISBANE' between the two ovals at the top, and 'QUEENSLAND' between them at the foot; under 'BRISBANE' within the inner oval in a curve is 'PAID' in seriffed letters, above 'QUEENSLAND' is the date, also curved, and in the centre is a sloping dash'. There are three subtypes:
- 3a - the ovals measure 40 x 28.5 mm and 29.5 x 18 mm respectively and there are small rosette stops at each side; the letters of 'PAID' are 4 mm high. Dates range from 22 August 1902 to 29 April 1908. Campbell type 4a. Usually there is nothing printed to the right of the sloping dash but examples are known with 1d (1907 - 1908) and 2d (1906). Rated 3R on stamps and 4R on cover. 1d and 2d examples rated 5R
- 3b - only partial strikes seen so far and the ovals are 41.5 x 29.5 mm and 31.5 x 19 mm respectively. There are no rosettes at the sides and the letters of 'PAID' are 4.5 mm high. Dates seen are 1904. Campbell type 4b. Rated 5R
- 3c - a double oval handstamp which is smaller than types 3a and 3b, with the outer oval being 29 mm at its widest and it has rosette stops at the sides. The only date seen is 15 May 1901. Campbell type 4c. Rated 5R
