Type 26 A framed circle 30 mm in diameter with 'BRISBANE' at the top and 'QUEENSLAND' at the foot in 4 mm high letters and a single curved bar at each side. The date is in one line in the centre, preceded by the time. The month has two figures followed by a full stop and the year also has two figures.
The last of the Brisbane datestamps to be produced during the colonial period, it was made by C. G Roeszler & Son of Melbourne who in 1909 had been awarded the contract for Queensland datestamps.Along with type 20 it is the largest Brisbane datestamp, but the lettering of 'BRISBANE' and 'QUEENSLAND' is much larger and the month has two figures whereas type 20 has three. It is also the only framed Brisbane datestamp with a single curved bar at each side. While type 3 also has a single curved bar at each side, that datestamp is unframed.
This datestamp was also used on 30 January 1913 to cancel a number of then just superceded Queensland issues which were to be held by the Commonwealth Postal Department as archival issues and which were released to the market in the 1980s. At the bottom of this page I show some examples of this usage
