Brisbane GPO Obliterator Page
Type 1 'Q.L' (stop after Q, no stop after L), 4 mm high within three concentric ovals, the outer measuring 23 mm and the inner one 18 mm. Known used from May 1860 to May 1869. Rated 4R on NSW stamps and on Queensland stamps rated common and 2R on cover.
This obliterator is based on the Sydney obliterator then in use in NSW and which is occasionally seen on QLD stamps. The Sydney one has four concentric circles and the words NSW in the centre. It is also similar to the Brisbane QL 1 duplex obliterator which also has three concentric circles but the centre contains no letters, being blank.
